Bucket List: The Wild
Put a stay at Mykonos' most fabulous new hotel on your summer itinerary.
Given that you feel like you’re on a secluded luxury island at The Wild, this Greek hotel lives up to its name in architecture, style, and raw beauty rather than in partying. The Wild is launched by the founders of Interni, a must on anyone’s Mykonos night out list.
A swift twenty-minute ride from the airport and I was being shown to my room, spacious and modern, the last of the golden rays swimming through the sheer curtains. My view couldn’t be any more idyllic - the pool, ocean, small islands, and the sky – a serene vista of greens and blues. The hotel and rooms feel like a homely retreat with subtle opulence, understated luxury for the sophisticated traveller; and for an island known for its all-day party vibes, the quietness is a breath of fresh air.
Stepping into The Wild, I noticed that the architecture blends traditional Greek with contemporary design, and therefore both rustic and refined. The rooms, with their stone walls and wooden accents, exude a sense of timelessness – spacious yet cosy with warm dim evening lighting.
My leisurely breakfast was always a highlight, with a view of the sun-drenched Aegean Sea, and I’d always take my time to have my coffee, then yoghurt and fruits. In the evening, you can have a romantic dinner under the starlit sky, with the most attentive staff and warm hospitality.
To have this quiet space in Mykonos, an island with day and night partying, means that you can have a quiet getaway and simultaneously have some fun nights or indeed visit daytime beach clubs. The private beach, a secluded cove with sun loungers, is also quite rare in Mykonos, and you have the azure blue waters of the ocean literally on your doorstep.
