Inside a Billionaire's Villa in South Africa

Laurence Graff, the billionaire behind Graff diamonds, has opened the doors of a stunning estate decorated with his own personal art collection.

Delaire Graff Estate enjoys views over the Stellenbosch vineyards

Nestled between majestic mountains and the lush vineyards of South Africa's Stellenbosch, sits a newly renovated estate claiming to be the most exclusive in the region. Personally designed and decorated by the billionaire chairman of Graff Diamonds, Laurence Graff, Delaire Graff Estate opens its doors this month after a two year construction period.

The estate comprises six Superior Lodges each measuring 76 square metres, and a breathtaking four-bedroom Owner’s Villa of 660 square metres. Prices start at US$1115 per lodge (low season rate) with the Owners Villa prices yet to be disclosed.

“The new Villa and Lodges have been a very personal project for me, and it is wonderful to see our vision become a reality,” says Laurence Graff. “There really is nowhere else in South Africa where you can experience this level of luxury.”

Seamlessly blending in with the landscape, from a distance it appears as if the Villa is floating above the vineyards below. Floor-to-ceiling windows frame the panoramic views, which can also be enjoyed from the private outdoor terrace with the 14 metre swimming pool.

Designed and curated by David Collins Studio, the Owner’s Villa and Superior Lodges incorporate bespoke materials and soft furnishings. Evolving the Studio’s original design vocabulary, inspiration for the interiors came from African colour palettes and patterns, married with European touches.

Adorning the walls are original artworks by new and established African artists, personally chosen by Laurence Graff from his private collection. Artworks are by artists including Stephane Graff, Zanele Muholi, Cyrus Kabiru, Donna Kukama and Julian Schnabel.
